For the past six years, Samuel Chong has been a monthly columnist for the Chinese-language Business Watch Magazine, writing about investment trends and emerging markets. Chong has helped expand the magazine's partnership into the US and Europe, increasing readership by 35%.
From 1999 to 2000, Chong was a senior analyst in the natural resource group for the London School of Economics Investment Society. His duties included supervising group members each week, as well as analyzing financial statements of listed companies in the UK and US. Receiving 50% return on investments, Chong achieved the highest return of the entire investment society.
Chong received a bachelor's in arts and economics from the University of California-Berkeley in 1999 and shortly followed with his master's degree in financial analysis from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain.
In addition, Chong serves as a Chinese translator, has served as an interpreter at the Federal Reserve Bank and is currently one of the 25 Mandarin interpreters certified by the state of California. He is currently an instructor and Mandarin translator/interpreter at the Los Angeles Institute of Translation and Interpretation.
