 - Kevin Rhoads
- Biography
- Around the game since childhood, Kevin Rhoads continues a proud tradition of teaching golf. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Rhoads moved to New England in 2003 to become the Teaching Professional at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, the site of the Ryder Cup in 1999 and the U.S. Open in 1988, 1963, and 1913, as well as the host of multiple USGA events.
Currently, Rhoads is in his fourth year as head women’s golf coach at Harvard University. In 2006, he coached the team to a second place conference finish, a first for Harvard. In 2007, the team posted three wins, three second-place finishes, and two third-place finishes.
In addition to his duties at The Country Club and the Harvard Golf Program, Kevin is a PGA Class “A” member and has attained Certified Professional status in instruction. He also serves as a Titleist Advisory staff member, and in June, he and his father were featured in a Titleist ad in GolfWeek and GolfWorld.
Prior to moving to New England, Rhoads was an instructor for the PGA of America at the PGA Learning Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he worked for Rick Martino, director of instruction for the PGA of America and recipient of the 2007 PGA National Teacher of the Year award.
Rhoads was a member of the men’s golf team for three years at UCLA. A walk-on during the 1992-1993 season, Rhoads worked to become the number one player during his final year, earning all-Conference honors for the Pac-10.
After UCLA, Rhoads pursued a playing career before teaching full time. He competed in the Canadian PGA Tour, the Golden Bear Tour in Florida, and the Tear-Drop Tour on the West Coast. He's also a three-time competitor in the PGA Tour Qualifying School.
Rhoads’s background in golf is rooted in his family. His father Rick was a two-time All-American at the University of Southern California and a seven-year PGA Tour Player. Today, he is the Head Professional at The San Francisco Golf Club. Kevin's uncle, Ron, was the Head Professional at Riviera Country Club, Sherwood Country Club, and Sahalee Country Club, and was also the head men’s golf coach at the University of Southern California. Rhoads’ brothers Curtis and Ryan are also golf professionals at The Olympic Club and Monterey Peninsula Country Club, respectively, and his cousin, Roger Tambellini, was a rookie on the PGA tour in 2004.
