...are the flashbacks to the ‘80s.
Seriously, does this series bare any resemblance to the epic battles waged between these two franchises 20+ years ago? I watched my first game of the series tonight (game 3) and came away with one impression: yawner.
This thing has no chance against The Office--even a re-run of The Office--this Thursday in our home, I can tell you that. And I'm a sports freak.
While the series stinks, I am absolutely loving the ridiculous amounts of footage and special shows being aired of the Magic vs. Bird days--LOVING it.
Other NBA News
I about fell out of my chair reading this story tonight: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3436401
The allegations were striking because I remember this game vividly, and I have always felt it was flat out stolen from Chris Webber and the Kings (I didn't remember the Ralph Nader part mentioned in the article, though--hilarious!). Had they not gotten completely jobbed, Sacramento would have closed that series 4-2 that night and would have moved on to the NBA finals, which they almost certainly would have won.
I wonder what the Maloof family thinks of this allegation... probably not so hilarious to them.
We live in the heart of Lakers country down here, so I'm no Sacramento Kings rah-rah. I'm just saying that as sports fan I, for one, have no problem believing the ref's allegations, as that was the biggest homer job I've ever seen.
And remember, I grew up around here being exposed to what is typically the ultimate in one-sided home cooking: USC football.

Come on Chip, this is a great series. OK, maybe not quite like the Orange Coast basketball games, Edison games or Pacer game when a well known center, now at Delta Global, ruled the Southern California Courts!!
But the series, though not well played offensively, and yet to come down to a last second win, all 3 games have gone down to the last minute. Matchups along with great and lousy performances by individual players make for an intriguing series.
As for game 4, it could go either way but I would take the Celts to cover the 7.5 point spread but Kobe to find someway to win. Buckeye Slags over/unders are Kobe 36, Pierce 23 and Powe 4.
Lakers/Celts over the Office any day of the week!
As for the allegations. I don't believe them. Although after refs gave game 5 to Sacramento, it evened out in game 6. Sacramento fans only remember game 6, Laker fans only remember game 5.
Thats why you play all season to get home court. Very important as human nature has refs favoring home team (not on purpose). Home team is more agressive thus tending to get more calls which makes it looks like the refs are biased. And the NBA is the most difficult game in sports to officiate
