Bye, Bye, Boehner

By Chip Hanlon | May 14, 2008 | 12:15 PM | 3 Comments

A much bigger story than Hillary's win last night was the continued GOP debacle taking place in Congress, as the results in Mississippi's 1st District showed. In the home of Trent Lott and Haley Barbour, a House seat in a district which went for President Bush by 25% in 2004 was won by Democrat Travis Childers yesterday.

Meanwhile, House GOP leader John Boehner chimed in with his now-customary Chatty Cathy-esque response, as hilariously described in this article at a CBS blog.

What Boehner doesn't understand is that HE is the change that needs to happen. How could he? He still has no clue that Republicans lost control of Congress because of their failed fiscal stewardship.

With the exception of Dennis Hastert, the same foxes who couldn't watch the henhouse before November of 2006 hold onto Republican leadership today.  How can they credibly ask the American people to return them to the majority? That would be the very definition of insanity, wouldn't it (trying the same thing over and over while expecting a different result)?

With the donor community already on strike (the NRCC only had $7MM on hand at the end of March), Boehner may already be a dead leader walking.

Regardless, at 12:01am on November 5th John Boehner should relinquish his post, and the rest of the GOP leadership in the House and Senate should follow him out the door.

Genius

I wonder how many states he will cover. He and Bush ought to teach public speaking in Guam.

yes, but...

voting Libertarian isn't the answer, no matter what Paul gets right on a few key economic issues. I imagine I'll come back to this topic in the future
