Biography

Dock David Treece is a registered securities representative with FINRA, a registered investment advisor with Treece Investment Advisory Corp, registered securities principal, financial operations principal and the Chief Compliance Officer to Treece Financial Services, a family-owned broker/dealer. Dock David ("Dock2") graduated from the University of Miami (FL) with a Bachelor's of Business Administration and a focus in Finance. After graduation he returned home to Toledo, Ohio to join his family's firm.

While at Miami, Dock frequented the dean's list and was also inducted into Gamma Sigma Alpha National Academic Greek Honor Society. He has also been involved in numerous organizations, including the Sigma Chi Fraternity - Gamma Phi Chapter, Toledo Area Humane Society, and the Rotaract Club of Maumee, which is a Rotary organization for young professionals. He has worked in the investment business under the tutelage of his father since an early age, and also worked for several other financial firms including Franklin Templeton Investments and John Hancock Financial Network. His writings have been regularly featured in the Toledo Free Press since the summer of 2008.

Dock David's father, colleague, and namesake, Dock D. Treece, began his career in money management in 1979 with WRP Investment Advisory Services out of Youngstown, Ohio before buying out his partner in 1985 and renaming the firm Treece Investment Advisory Corp. With his years of experience managing money and closely studying history and the markets, he is the foremost expert on the economy and financial markets in the region.

Since the 1980's Dock Senior has been a regular on 1370 AM (WSPD) in Toledo, Ohio, the last several years being in a daily 6:40 AM spot. "Dock1" has also been featured both on television news since the ‘80s, when he was a regular on Toledo TV 13's First at Five, and in print, having written numerous articles for the Toledo Free Press. In addition to being a regular feature in the local media and general community activist, having been involved in numerous organizations and served in elected office, and he also taught Personal Financial Management through the continuing education department at the University of Toledo.

Together with Dock David's brother Ben, this three-man team runs what they refer to as "a hedge fund for the common man." The Treeces have an investment strategy that is totally driven by economics, wherein they use relatively concentrated portfolios - with regard to sectors, not individual securities. However, with respect to hedge funds, whose returns they rival on a long-term basis, the Treeces' system has a much more attractive fee structure. Rather than the "2 & 20" that is typical among hedge funds, Treece Investment procures a fee of 2% of assets under management each year (this number declines once breakpoints are reached) and has no performance-related fee. What's more, aside from commissions and administrative fees related to setting up an account, this 2% fee is the only ongoing fee for clients of Treece Investments. In other words, there are no ongoing transactions costs.

In addition to rivaling hedge fund returns, which have been verified by third-party firm Theta Investment Research (http://www.thetaresearch.com/) going back to 1987, without the use of leverage whatsoever, the Treece Investment model is also appreciated for its liquidity and its transparency. Treece Investments has in-place a third-party custodial arrangement that guard investors against theft or fraud. What's more, there are no lock-ups with the Treece system, which is yet another concern among many hedge funds. Lastly, unlike hedge funds or even most major RIA firms, the efficiency of Treece Investment's money management system allows the firm to accept managed accounts as small as $10,000, with no requirements with regard to net worth or annual income.
