IBD on Obama: Scary Stuff

What a well written, if frightening, article on Barack Obama's belief system in Investor's Business Daily last week. I've written a number of times that despite it being reasonable to have great misgivings about John McCain, it is critical to vote for the veto he's wield over the Democrat-led Congress as opposed to what would be Obama's rubber stamp.

Reading the IBD article it becomes clear that should Obama win, Nancy Pelosi would actually be the voice of reason in Washington D.C.! Enough said... just be sure to read the above article. Scary.

Subtle shifts

Today, Barack Obama talks of a captial gains tax hike to 20% (from today's 15%). In the primary, however, he was talking about a max rate of 25-28% and how his pal, Warren Buffett (a do-as-I-say, not-as-I-do tax policy illiterate), told him such a boost wouldn't impact peoples' investment decisions.

Today Obama talks of raising taxes on the "wealthy," and defines them as people making more than $250,000. In the primary, however, that number was $200k.

He's shifting these numbers now to appear more moderate for the general, to make it seem as though his tax hikes would touch even fewer people than he was claiming during the primary. He's even trying to sound moderate on the topic of oil drilling.

Don't believe it. The article above is a must-read to help crystalize what you probably already suspect about this man's far, far left beliefs.

Getting Away with Murder

The stunts this guy gets away with are incredible. Did Obama inject race into this campaign the other day by suggesting the other side wants to remind you he "looks different" than past presidents? What are we, stupid? Of course he did.

Now, he's calling McCain "cynical,' instead of racist. Oh, gee...thanks.  You can bet "cynical" is code for "old," and will bleed into an ongoing, not-so-subtle, implied message about McCain.

At least when Maureen Dowd wrote her despicable article in Newsweek about McCain's age earlier this year, she said very openly and plainly that John McCain was too old. Obama will never say it explicity and will get totally get away with it, all the while claiming to be the victim of some unidentified wrong himself. Amazing.

Cantor? Interesting.

Virginia GOP Congressman and deputy minority whip, Eric Cantor, is reportedly being heavily vetted as a potential veep pick for McCain. Interesting.

He's not the most charismatic guy out there, but as the only Republican Jewish member of Congress it would certainly be a more exciting and strategic pick than Mitt Romney... sounds like a very crafty idea by McCain, especially in light of the ongoing mistrust of Obama by Jewish voters.

I wish Cantor were stronger on the topic of spending and earmarks, but I guess you can't have it all. Interesting story developing here...
