Who's Really Playing Politics?
Keep in mind, a bailout plan could be passed right this second. The Democrats control both houses, there would be no Senate fillibuster and they and have a President who'll sign anything they send him, so why don't they just force it through?
Sorry, but I'm just getting a little sick of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Steny Hoyer and other Dems claiming that John McCain is the problem here (and I say this while also believing McCain is unlikely to have anything intelligent to add to the discussion). The fact is, Democrats are the ones who are doing everything they can to "inject Presidential politics" into this process.
The Democrats' actual holdup is now over how many Congressional Republicans will vote for their framework solution. The 50 or so ready to do so aren't enough; they want 70 or 80.
Ball's in your court, Dems...
A better solution
You know who we should put in charge of this whole thing? I do:
I'm sorry, but that video resurfaced this morning and I just couldn't help myself. You have to give credit to the Saved-By-The-Bell guy who's hosting... I have no idea how he kept a straight face during that one.
Seriously, though, how could putting this charming young lady in charge be any worse than what we're watching in D.C. right now?
I still suspect a bailout will be passed, but if the few GOP revolutionaries I think highly of are the ones throwing a monkey wrench into this thing, I find myself increasingly hopeful that this thing will die.
I'm trying to find out what they're up to... will post here again if I glean any insights...
